Hello! Birgit here with a fun mixed media project. I�ve been using my Gelli Arts� gel printing plate to print on chipboard hearts with crackle paste on top.
It's so much cooler then when you use a paint brush! The layer of paint on a Gelli Arts� plate is so thin it won't go into the cracks so you will continue to see the color underneath of the cracks! Besides that, I love the transparency of the layers when using the Gelli Arts� plate.

So, here�s how to do it:
First you need to find or cut some shapes of chipboard and paint them. I used black gesso from DecoArt Media but you could also use white gesso or any color of acrylic paint. Then you apply a layer of crackle paste on top of the painted chipboard. I also used DecoArt Media crackle paste. The thicker the layer of paste, the bigger the cracks will be.
Leave it to dry for a couple of hours. Don�t use a heat gun, just be patient. ;)
When the crackle paste is completely dry it�s time to bring out your Gelli Arts� plate!
Roll out two or three colors of acrylic paint - I used DecoArt Media. Place the crackled chipboard shape on top, cover it with a sheet of printing paper and firmly rub the shape into the paint.
As a bonus, you will also get a nice print! I took the paper I used for covering the heart and printed the left-over paint on the plate in the open space.
Now apply a contrasting color to the plate and place a mask on top. I am using the 2 Flowers set by Birgit Koopsen. Remove most of the paint around the mask with printer paper and pull the print. Repeat until you are satisfied.
Now take some paint markers, like Poscas, and add little splatters to your shape by hitting the pens with scissors.
To add more details and texture you can use stamps and a permanent stamping ink. I am using Mini Textures by Birgit Koopsen.
To finish the heart, you can go around the edges with the ink pad.
